Margaret Sanger to Ku Klux Klan: "Mission Accomplished!"

I couldn't help but think of Margaret Sanger when I saw the above cartoon from Kranky's Cartoons.

If Margaret Sanger were to return today to Silver Lake to speak once again at a Ku Klux Klan Rally where she spoke 81 years ago, she would certainly say "Mission Accomplished!"

*In America today, almost as many African-American children are aborted as are born.

*A black baby is three times more likely to be murdered in the womb than a white baby.

*Since 1973, abortion has reduced the black population by over 25 percent.

*Twice as many African-Americans have died from abortion than have died from AIDS, accidents, violent crimes, cancer, and heart disease combined.

*Every three days, more African-Americans are killed by abortion than have been killed by the Ku Klux Klan in its entire history.

*Planned Parenthood operates the nation's largest chain of abortion clinics and almost 80 percent of its facilities are located in minority neighborhoods.

*About 13 percent of American women are black, but they submit to over 35 percent of the abortions.

In fact, many now even refer to the organization that Margaret Sanger founded as Klan Parenthood.

We do not know exactly what Margaret Sanger said at the Silver Lake Klan Rally when she spoke there 81 years ago, but if she could have predicted the devastation her organization would bring upon the Black community, the racists would have gone away very happy.
If the goal of the Ku Klux Klan 81 years ago was to wreak havoc and death upon the African-American community, Margaret Sanger could proudly report today: "Mission Accomplished!"

Would there still be a KKK chapter in Silver Lake, NJ? Probably not. Back in the 1920s, when the KKK had its widest influence, there were approximately 4-5 million members nationwide. Back in the day, politicians in several southern and beltline states used their KKK connections to help themselves get elected.

Current membership is estimated at about 8,000, and every mainstream politician and religious leader has disavowed the KKK. That's a rather interesting irony, at least from your perspective Planned Parenthood is thriving and the KKK has been kicked to the curb.

Your patronizing attitude about women of color makes me wonder if perhaps the pot is calling the kettle black here.

Spartakus,

The KKK is nearly extinct because Planned Parenthood is doing the dirty work for them.

Any promising young racist is going to choose Planned Parenthood over the Ku Klux Klan for two good reasons.

1) Planned Parenthood is far more effective than the KKK in destroyng the black race; and

2) There is very little stigma in belonging to Planned Parenthood while the KKK is one of the most hated groups on Earth.

Planned Parenthood hasn't benefitted the black race much, but what has devastated it is the LBJ-era welfare programs that have encouraged the most vicious and stupid Black males to go in unto the most bovine and lazy and ignorant black females and make their bellies swell with little stupidlets, the more the merrier so Mama can get a Cadillac.

It would be far cheaper to GIVE Cadillacs to all Blacks who measure under 100 on IQ tests in exchange for undergoing sterilization. Cadillacs are cheap. It now takes a thousand of them to buy one jet fighter-and that's the economy model, single engine, 30+ year old airframe design F-16. Yet one Black male (or any other) with a 83 IQ and a propensity for violence, can cost the criminal justice system three to five million dollars.

And just think of the good UAW jobs we'd create!

As a historian, I find it incredibly disingenuous the way the far- and Christian right choose to characterize historical figures in such ignorant and ham-handed way. You can try to demonize Margaret Sanger--or reclaim Susan B. Anthony or Thomas Jefferson as right-wing ideologues or what have you--but history does not stand with you.

If Sanger spoke with the KKK women's auxiliary because it was one of the largest social organizations of the time, she obviously did so with some trepidation (as is obvious in the tone of the small sound-bite you and others use) and for an audience who did not really agree with her message of women's liberation through control of their own bodies. In fact, though occasional moderately eugenicist ideas proffer minor superficial likenesses, the viewpoints of such women's groups and of the Nazis and other fascists were in most cases in direct contradiction with Sanger and other sexual liberals of the time.

The conservative 1920s KKK and the later German National Socialists, whether politely listening to Sanger or not, thought that contraception by women was a danger to the moral identity of the state/nation/race. Not unlike you and your comrades, they would rather burn Sanger's books (as the Nazis did later) or ban their mailing in US postal areas (which Sanger successfully fought) than actually admit that it's good for women to control their bodies. So... who's side are YOU really on?

It is amazing to me how angry people get when history doesn't agree with what they have decided to believe. There is no disputing Margaret Sanger's own words- in her BIOGRAPHY: "....human weeds, recless breeders, spawning...human beings who never should have been born" when referring to blacks, immigrants, and indigents in "Pivot of Civilization"; "The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it" in "Women and the New Race" publication; "Birth Control: to create a race of thoroughbreds" was her slogan as editor of "Official Organ of the American Birth Control League". Come on, people, say you think abortions are necessary, say you don't care about the sanctity of life, but stop lying to yourself as to Planned Parenthood was started and what their goals were. Own up to it, and move on. Thank you Defund Abortion Guy, for the info.

This is all lies. Margaret Sanger never spoke at any KKK rally. Its a doctored image that was the winner of a race-baiting contest.

Yes she did, it's in her autobiography, duh.
The photo is fake, yes. It was made for a contest and its creator never passed it off as real. Credit is even included in the photo itself, lower right corner. Again, duh!
